Teaching at Guru Amar Dass Public School is student-centred and concept-based. A child is taught to understand a thing rather than to remember it.
In the classroom
Every classroom carries an LED screen and digital content, so a lesson can be seen as well as heard. Visual learning and real-life examples do the work that a blackboard and a dictated note used to do.
What we are after
Critical thinking, creativity and active participation. A lesson in which nobody asks a question has not finished.
The teacher’s part in it
Teachers at GADPS work as facilitators — they set a problem going, they question, and they guide. The intention throughout is to move past learning by rote.
